PSDI marked World Tourism Day on 27 September 2023 by attending the World Tourism Day Conference and Expo in Lae, Papua New Guinea, organized by the Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority and the Lae City Tourism Bureau.

PSDI Tourism Analyst, Alcinda Trawen addressed the conference and presented details on PSDI’s tourism work plan in Papua New Guinea, which focusses on data collection, strategic planning, and improvements to the regulatory environment with an aim to support PNG to tap into its potential as a tourism destination. PSDI’s tourism work in the Pacific supports the development of a sustainable, private sector led tourism sector – aligning with the #WTD2023 theme of “Tourism and Green Investments.”
