In Kiribati, PSDI is supporting reforms to improve the business and consumer environment and expand private sector opportunities.
PSDI is working with the Government of Kiribati to:

Modernize company and business laws;

Draft legislation for the development of an online business registry;

Strengthen the operations and financial sustainability of the Kiribati Provident Fund including development of a comprehensive policy framework;
- Strengthen the Development Bank of Kiribati's credit and risk management policies and processes;

Build consumer protection capacity at the Ministry of Tourism, Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives; and

Support sustainable tourism planning.

PSDI is working with the Tourism Authority of Kiribati to establish and grow a sustainable tourism sector in Kiribati.
Competition agencies, whether they are independent commissions or departmental offices, are crucial for making sure competition laws are followed and effective. PSDI provides training and leadership programs to strengthen these institutions in Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, and Solomon Islands.
PSDI’s tourism team was in Kiribati in March 2024 to support the Tourism Authority of Kiribati with a first round of consultations to support a tourism target market analysis and the development of a new tourism destination brand strategy for the country.
The Tourism Authority of Kiribati (TAK) on 13 January 2024 launched the destination's first ever Sustainable Tourism Policy, alongside it’s 2024-2026 Strategic Plan, developed with PSDI support.
PSDI is working to strengthen Pacific retirement funds by engaging in regional policy dialogue and advocacy, reforming legislative, and supporting women’s equal access to retirement benefits.
PSDI is supporting MCIC to strengthen the capacity of its Consumer Protection Division in line with the Government of Kiribati's 20-year vision to become a wealthier, healthier, and more peaceful country.
